"Vault 4: Part 1 - Disillusioned" (OSx02) is a one-shot set in an unknown region of Itora.

Brief

You are a proud citizen of Vault 4, a tight-knit subterranean tunnel-dwelling community consisting of around 100 individuals who all have one thing in common - you’ve never stepped foot outside. In fact, you don’t know anyone who has. You’ve heard fantastical tales passed down - of a giant ball of fire above, of an endless tub of flowing water, of animals larger than a person! Surely, this is a tantalizing experience worth pursuing.

Luckily for you, citizens are allowed to volunteer for a once-in-a-lifetime rite of passage and earn an exit to the great Above. This trial requires the participants, known as Pathfinders, to blaze a trail into the cavernous unknown to discover new resources and secure new spaces for the ever-expanding complex. If your mission is deemed successful by the Overseer, you earn your passage.

Your years of experience have led you to this day, as you and your compatriots are here to brave that very rite. You find yourselves staring at the dimly lit untamed caves beyond the outer perimeter. You’re here to document hazards, identify resources, and defeat dangerous denizens. This is your one shot to earn passage - failure means you will never be able to try again and will stay within the Vault ‘til your dying day. For some it’s a mark of shame, for others, that’s just life. That is…if you return at all.

Of course, even if you don’t make it back, your sacrifice was in service to the Overseer, and that’s good enough, right?
